Well, this is my first official posting, aside from the “test” posts. Lord willing, in two days, I will be flying from Philly to Qingdao, China. Whether I will get any sleep on the ride over is already a non sequitur. Whenever Paul flies overseas, he lacks any ability whatsoever to sleep or even snooze occasionally. So I guess I’ll do some reading, watch some movies here and there, and put on a pretense of sleeping. Maybe if I slip a few sleeping pills into my water, I’ll “sleep” my way to China. We’ll see what happens, I guess.
Frankly, I am amazed at God’s provision for my trip. I did not expect to reach my desired financial goal before leaving, but I have been blessed by others’ donations, which have matched or almost exceeded my initial financial goal for the trip. I praise God for another sign that He desires me to pursue this short-term missions trip. Whether it will expand into a long-term/full-time endeavor is another matter altogether. But I am quite confident that I will be stretched in many ways as I embark on this journey to the People’s Republic of China. How the republican moniker fits with a regime that upholds communism is a bit of a puzzle, but I’ll leave it at that.
Well, I think I’ve rambled on quite enough for this first offical post. So, with that, I say goodbye, and to any friends or family who read this post, I will do my best to update you on my adventure in China. Thanks again for your prayers and support.
